A study found that women gain more than six pounds a year on average thanks to snacking at the office! Men are guilty of unhealthy office noshing as well, putting on more than five pounds annually. Overall, 30% of people admit to eating three between-meal snacks per day, and people who work in offices are considerably more likely to snack than those who don’t. The most common at-work snacks are cookies, followed by chocolate and chips. A third of employees say they snack to cope with stress at work, and almost a quarter rely on sweet treats to give them an afternoon energy boost. It seems nutritionally-lacking lunches are to blame for this unhealthy habit- almost half of people said they don’t feel full or satisfied after lunch, which often leads them to reach for junk food later on.
